Propellers can take tremendous damage at sea. Blades get bent, and whole pieces can be ripped off when they hit hard surfaces. At Mrs G Propeller we use propane torches and high-voltage welding machines to remanufacture missing pieces of a propeller.
How we rebuild a damaged propeller
- Reshaping
- We use high-powered propane torches to remove any bends and get the shape of the propeller back to its original form.
- Welding
- Once we have the desired shape, we weld the missing piece of the propeller until it is restored completely.
Measured against real geometry
Welding and reshaping go hand in hand with measurement. After rebuilding a blade we verify the propeller against Hale MRI scan data, so the repaired prop matches its intended pitch and section shapes — not just its looks.
